BEKTOR – Immersive light and sound installation at Azkuna Zentroa (Gau Zuria 2026)

Laser architecture and spatial sound that transform the Atrium of Cultures into a contemplative light landscape.

BEKTOR is an immersive light and sound installation created for the Atrio de las Culturas at Azkuna Zentroa during Gau Zuria 2026. The piece transforms the space into a contemplative landscape of laser architecture, slow light choreography and spatial sound

Volumetric laser beams and spatial audio generate a temporary architecture suspended between sculpture, atmosphere and perception. BEKTOR explores a minimal and sensory use of laser language, focusing on geometry, void and time rather than spectacle

BEKTOR is a site-specific light installation that transforms architecture into a living structure of light. Conceived as a large-scale spatial intervention rather than a conventional laser performance, it uses twenty-four high-power RGB laser units to create ephemeral volumes that redefine the perception of space.

Architecture is not the setting. It is the material.

Instead of projecting images, BEKTOR sculpts architecture itself. Columns, vaults, façades and structural elements become integral parts of the composition as precisely choreographed planes of light reveal hidden geometries and create immersive spatial experiences. Rather than treating architecture as a backdrop, the installation transforms it into an active medium, inviting audiences to experience familiar spaces from an entirely new perspective.

BEKTOR is especially suited to large indoor, semi-covered and architecturally enclosed spaces, where existing structural elements can be fully integrated into the artistic concept. By working directly with the architecture, the installation minimizes the need for temporary support structures and complex rigging, reducing production costs while strengthening the dialogue between light, space and place.

Every presentation is site-adaptive. Rather than reproducing a fixed layout, each installation is carefully reconfigured to respond to the scale, geometry and identity of its host venue while preserving the conceptual integrity of the artwork. This approach allows BEKTOR to establish a unique relationship with every architectural environment.

Combining contemporary light art, precise laser choreography and an original immersive soundtrack by Markovian Parallaz Denigrate, BEKTOR creates a powerful collective experience in which technology recedes into the background and architecture itself becomes the artistic medium.

Developed by Gnomalab Estudio as part of its ongoing artistic research into light, architecture and spatial perception, BEKTOR explores how ephemeral structures of light can transform the experience of built environments through site-specific interventions.

Suitable for light festivals, heritage sites, industrial buildings, public architecture, museums and large-scale cultural venues.
