Gnomalab Estudio is a creative space founded in 1998 by Juanjo Fernández, a restless audiovisual experimenter born in the underground scene of Barcelona. He began his career as a Video jockey in the late 1990s. Since then, he has participated in festivals across Europe as a video artist. His video art projects, installations, and live performances have been exhibited throughout Europe, Asia, and America. He is part of several live audiovisual experimentation groups. He currently works as an independent producer and gives masterclasses on experimentation and real-time video production. Juanjo Fernández was also part of the A/V Shoegaze electronic music duo ‘The Suicide of Western Culture,’ whose trajectory has allowed him to perform at festivals worldwide such as SXSW, FYF Festival, The Great Escape, Eurosonic, C/O Pop, Wilsonic, Popkomm, Primavera Sound, Sónar, Rockomotives, Vienna Electronic Beats, Le Fest, Canadian Music Week, among others.

On the other hand, Juanjo maintains a strong bond with academic education and the culture of Barcelona city, as he has been a professor in the Master’s Degree in Audiovisual Innovation and Interactive Environments at BAU, Design University Center, and teaches the Master’s Degree in Digital Art Curation at ESDi Higher School of Design.
Sonia Puerto joined Gnomalab Estudio two years ago. With a clear humanistic profile derived from her studies in philology and philosophy, she joins the studio with the goal of ensuring that the studio’s creations stimulate critical thinking.
Her extensive career spanning over 15 years in developing projects related to technology has led her to study and foster interactions between art, science, technology, and society.
