Kairos – Immersive Audiovisual Installation with Gaussian Splatting
Kairos is a generative, multi-screen immersive installation created by Gnomalab Estudio for the Catalan Arts Pavilion at ISE Barcelona 2025.
This piece explores the perception of time and impermanence through the use of Gaussian Splatting, an innovative 3D rendering technique powered by AI. The result is a hypnotic landscape of moving light and digital matter, constantly shifting in form and atmosphere.
Each iteration of Kairos is unique, transforming the environment through real-time audiovisual composition. The installation invites audiences to reflect on the fleeting nature of memory, the sensory limits of perception, and the aesthetics of ephemerality in the digital age.
🔊 Concept & Approach
At the core of Kairos is a real-time system based on Gaussian Splatting, allowing for fluid, volumetric imagery across multiple projections. The piece avoids linear narration, instead offering an open sensory journey where light and sound continuously evolve without repetition.
The soundscape, crafted by Marcos in Dub, enhances the spatial experience with textures and pulses that support the visuals’ emotional and perceptual depth.
